Educational Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics (G Cert)

Program Purpose


To provide foundational content and practical knowledge for educators to advance their skills and abilities in educational research, measurement, evaluation, and data development in an effort to promote increases in instruction, changes in policy, and promotion of data driven interventions within and across educational settings. This certificate will advance educational best practices and interventions using meaningful analysis of data and evaluative techniques and provide a pathway for licensed K-12 teachers, administrators, and others in higher education to increase competence and skills related to assessment of student learning and programmatic outcomes.

The graduate Certificate in Educational Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics provides 15 semester hours of course work in research content, research methods, evaluation methods, and statistical content knowledge for educators seeking to improve their skills and abilities in the incorporation of educational research into practice, policy, and other areas of related need.


Learning Outcomes


Application of Research Methods

Based upon prior course work the student demonstrates the ability and skills to complete a full research project under the guidance of a faculty member. Students will demonstrate the application of their cumulative knowledge of educational research through their ability to complete a full research study.

Program Evaluation and Research Content Knowledge

Knowledge of basic and advanced evaluation methods and approaches, knowledge of research and evaluation design and projects. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of relevant advanced educational evaluation models through identification and selection of appropriate evaluation models for a specific research project.

Research Content Knowledge

Research Content Knowledge (SLO): Knowledge of research design, research question development, identifying, reading, and understanding research. Students will explain and modify novel research proposals.

Statistical Content Knowledge

Knowledge of concepts in statistics and educational research. Statistical Content Knowledge (SLO): Students will solve and interpret novel statistics problems and outputs.
