Family and Consumer Sciences Education (BS)
Program Purpose
The Bachelor of Science degree in family and consumer sciences (FACS) education prepares individuals to teach in middle grades and high schools; to work with the Cooperative Extension Service or other educational agencies such as career and technical education, workforce development programs, and career services; and to prepare for graduate study. FACS majors develop competency of essential concepts, career and technical skills, and problem-solving strategies within six areas: consumer economics and resource management; child development; parenting and human development; foods, nutrition, and culinary arts; fashion, apparel and textiles; and housing and interior design.
