Sports Studies (BS)-EXSS (Minor)
Program Purpose
The purpose of the B.S. in Sports Studies degree program is to have students and faculty study and understand sport as a phenomenon of the human condition and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate the management of, and participation in, sport in a socially responsible manner.
Learning Outcomes
Classroom Theory
Connect classroom theory with research, work activity, service learning, or other community involvement.
Communication
Effectively formulate and communicate logical and persuasive arguments orally, visually, and in writing, in individual and team settings.
Critical Thinking
Students will demonstrate critical thinking, information literacy, research, and problem-solving skills applicable to the various sectors of the sport industry.
Ethical and Social Responsibility
Evaluate the role of ethical and social responsibility within sport organizations and relate the benefits of diversity in all its forms to real-world situations.
Leadership and Industry Knowledge
Describe and assess the skills associated with leadership and practice in the various functional areas of sport organizations.
Professional Preparedness
Demonstrate the necessary professionalism and preparedness for excelling in a career in the sport industry.
