Student Affairs in Higher Education (G Cert)
Program Purpose
The student affairs certificate is open to students with baccalaureate or graduate degrees who currently work in, or aspire to work in, the field of student affairs at the university, college, and community college levels. The focus of the coursework is on the preparation of knowledgeable and proficient practitioners who are committed to student success and development, and can work as leaders and change agents within their institutions and within society at large.
Learning Outcomes
Content Knowledge: History and Current Trends
Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge of the history and current trends of student affairs in a specific concentration.
Evidence of Planning
Student Affairs in Higher Education G Cert candidates will demonstrate their ability to apply adult learning and counseling theory to the field of student affairs.
Leadership Development
Candidates will demonstrate their ability to apply adult learning and counseling theory to the field of student affairs via a culminating portfolio section "Applied Project".
Reflective Practitioner
Student Affairs in Higher Education G Cert candidates will demonstrate their knowledge and self-awareness with regard to their continuing professional development in student affairs.
Understanding Student Affairs in Higher Education
Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of their specialization/content area in student affairs in higher education.
