Program Purpose


The mission of the adult education program is to develop professional adult educators who are reflective practitioners.


Learning Outcomes


Adult Education Theory and Philosophy

Candidates will demonstrate understanding of adult education theory and articulate their personal educational philosophy.

Adult Learner Characteristics and Theory

Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge of adult development and learning theory and articulate their personal learning profile.

Global Awareness and Cultural Competence

Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge of cultural competence and adult education in global contexts and the application of that understanding to create inclusive learning environments for diverse adult learners.

Instructional Knowledge and Practice

Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge of effective instructional strategies for diverse adult learners in a variety of learning contexts.

Leadership Development

Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge of the diverse instructional, administrative, and leadership roles in adult education and will articulate a personal professional development plan.
