Environmental Health (BS)
Program Purpose
The Environmental Health Sciences undergraduate (BSEH) Program at East Carolina University provides education to students in order to prepare them for entry level careers in environmental public health, occupational health/industrial hygiene, environmental protection, institutional environmental health and related fields at the local, state, regional, national and international level.
Learning Outcomes
Cultural Communication
Students will communicate, interact and work positively with individuals from other cultural groups.
Environmental Problems
Students will identify, institute, and evaluate control measures appropriate to environmental problems in areas that include air quality, solid waste and wastewater, vector control, food sanitation, radiation safety, occupational health, and program management.
Global Interdependence
Students will recognize the global interdependence of societies, economies, and environmental systems and the implications of his or her actions on the wider global environment, including the natural earth environment.
Leadership Principles
Students will demonstrate leadership principles relevant to the practice of Environmental Health.
Problem-Solving Process
Students will apply the problem-solving process in addressing environmental health problems and issues.
Professionalism
Students will embody professionalism in a community-based environmental health worksite.
