Health Fitness Specialist (BS)

Program Purpose


The B.S. in Health Fitness Specialist program provides competencies and knowledge for students to develop and conduct health and fitness programs in commercial, corporate, clinical and community settings.


Learning Outcomes


Exercise and Fitness Testing

Students will use proper technique for exercise and fitness testing and can articulate why those techniques are being used.

Individualized Exercise

Students will be able to apply scientific principles to the practice of individualized exercise/activity prescription.

Leading Group Exercise

Students will be able to apply scientific principles to the practice of leading group exercise.

Physical Activity Guidelines

Students will be able to identify physical activity guidelines, initiatives, and key reasons for physical activity during the lifespan.

Professional Development

Students will be exposed to professional development opportunities increasing their competitiveness for internships and jobs regionally and nationally.

Utilizes reflection to promote personal growth.
