Health Information Management (BS)

Program Purpose


The primary purpose of the program is to prepare competent entry-level health information professionals for a variety of roles. These roles are within the health care delivery system and other agencies and organizations throughout the region and state. A secondary purpose is to provide continuing education, support, and consultation for health care professionals throughout the region. These purposes are accomplished through teaching, research, and service.


Learning Outcomes


Critical Thinking

Students exhibit critical thinking skills in their internship experience.

Effective Communication

Students completing the program in health services management will communicate effectively.

Knowledge in Health Information Management

Students will demonstrate knowledge of health information management.

Leadership

Students in HIM will demonstrate their knowledge about leadership.

Professionalism

Students in HIM will show the capability to make self-introduction professionally.

Statistical Analysis skills

Students will be able to identify and use appropriate statistical techniques to when presented with research questions and data. Subsequently, students will be able to interpret the results of statistical analyses performed.

Teamwork

Students in HIM will possess the essential skills to lead and be part of a team to get through changes.
