College of Allied Health Sciences

Health Services Management (BS)

Program Purpose

This degree was established in 2003 in response to a shortage of trained healthcare managers both in North Carolina and the rest of the nation. The program is in keeping with East Carolina University's mission to expand professional opportunities for practitioners in health fields in eastern North Carolina. The expansion of distance education was also a goal. The university enrolled its first class of Health Services Management majors in August 2003 and graduated its first class in May 2005.

The BS in Health Services Management provides health care practitioners and others with the skills and competencies to function as supervisors and managers in health care settings. Graduates will be prepared for mid-level management positions or for entrance into master's programs in allied health as the courses of study have been created to meet the pre-requisites.
