Promoting Equity in Health and Human Services (Minor)
Program Purpose
The purpose of the undergraduate Promoting Equity in Health and Human Services Minor is to afford students more comprehensive learning about:
- the meaning and demonstration of equity in different contexts,
- the institutional structures that continue to perpetuate inequity in the United States and among vulnerable and historically repressed populations particularly, and
- interdisciplinary frameworks of change for achieving equity.
The main objective is to offer education and tools to enhance professional proficiency for readiness to participate in local and global efforts that build and maintain justice through equity realization.
Mission - To empower our students with the knowledge to create an equitable society.
Learning Outcomes
Use of Knowledge
Student will describe how social inequality is a product of social structures, social institutions, culture, and privilege.
Use of Skill
Students will demonstrate recognition of inequity within different societal contexts and populations.
